Therapeutic Riding

The nature of The Salem Equestrian Center’s lesson program is intentionally and unintentionally therapeutic.  Our instructors always move at the riders pace through fears and into success!  In addition our riders also benefit from the improved strength, balance and coordination that riding brings.

We are in the process of pursuing accreditation and certification through PATH International (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) and expanding our programs to include professional Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and other Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies (EAAT).

Although The Salem Equestrian Center is not currently equipped to provide professional therapeutic riding activities, we do serve at-risk youth utilizing Equine Assisted Learning Techniques.  We are also able to accommodate some riders with disabilities.  Our herd is safe and we are currently able to offer lessons to any rider who is able to mount and dismount, with minimal assistance, from a taller mounting platform.
