Salem Equestrian Center

The Salem Equestrian Center is a small, qualified, riding facility which provides a safe, positive and encouraging environment in which to learn the art of horsemanship and benefit from the sport of riding.

Located on over 300 acres of rolling wooded land, the facility boasts an eight horse stable, plentiful pasture, a small indoor arena, standard outdoor arena, and access to a variety of well-maintained trails.

The Salem Equestrian Center has been an accredited riding facility through the Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) since 2000 and employs highly experienced and educated CHA certified instructors who can confidently instruct riders in a variety of disciplines.

As a subsidiary of the Maryland Salem Children’s Trust Inc., which provides a “home, family, counseling and education to children who have been abused, neglected and abandoned,” the Salem Equestrian Center boasts a wide variety of programs ranging from therapeutic to academic and recreational. Therapeutic riding programs are tailored toward equipping youth to become confident community members through mounted and un-mounted lessons geared toward physical, cognitive and psychological gains. 

The Salem Equestrian Center also services recreational trail riders and employs instructors and horses capable of teaching beginner to intermediate riders the basic nuances of the equestrian sport in English and Western Pleasure, Dressage, and Hunt-Seat Equitation as well as trail riding.
